I pierced my snake bites about a week ago. It's still swollen and very painful. I have no idea what to clean it with or anything.

  1. A LITTLE swelling and pain can be normal; but if it's persistent, and accompanied by redness or any type of pus, it's a sure sign of infection. If left untreated, the infection could progress to the point that would require a visit to the doctor, and an antibiotic prescription. Typically, with a piercing, you should be given proper instruction on the car of said piercing. Be sure to keep the area clean and disinfected (you can purchase piercing care solutions, failing that peroxide or an antibiotic ointment will be suffiicient) and if your condition worsens, remove the piercing and consult a licensed medical professional.

  2. best thing to clean it with is natural sea salt and cooled boiled water from your kettle.

stay clear of peroxide as this is too harsh for a new piercing and will "burn" the inside of the wounds.

the swelling should have started to subside by now.... leave the piercings in place and consult your doctor you may need antibiotics.

  3. Sea salt is your best option but if you can't handle that taste use mouthwash. Half and half....half mouthwash half water

  4. What are your snake bites? When I had a piercing I was given Ear Care Anitseptic, but years ago they would tell you to use methylated spirits (ouch) although it really does work, or peroxide, that works well too. They do say redness, swelling and pain can be an indication that you are actually allergic to the item that you have pierced yourself with, go see a pharmacist or a doctor, although metho would clean it up, but if its an allergic reaction, this will not help!

  5. Try going back to the place where you got the piercing and ask them what they recommend,,,after all they are the professionals and they probably had heaps of cases like that.
