I want to begin taking MMA, i'm also thinking of getting my ears pierced and gauged up 0. Would that be a problem for MMA or fighting? is any piercing in general bad to have for that?

  1. piercing and martial arts don't mix well for the obvious reasons. If you must, than remove them when training and fighting.

I have seen a few bloody messes because of piercings.

  2. piercings are for egos, not for serious fighting...

  3. i have my ears pierced but i take them out before i roll or spar.. its not good to leave them on they could get ripped out especially in jits. and you cant wear any piercings in a sanctioned fight.

  4. There is a lot of grinding that goes on in MMA.  Wrestlers wear headgear to prevent cauliflower ear, but martial artists generally do not.  Chokes, clinches and take downs cause a  lot of grinding with the forearm that will get sweat and bacteria all over your head.  I wouldn't risk the chance of infection.

  5. My brother has 00 gauges and his labret pierced and he fights in MMA competitions.. he just takes them out before he fights.

You'll just have to make sure they're healed before you start fighting.. he's had both of these body mods for over a year so they are easy to take in and put back in.
