  1. you have to press the sleeve out on a press or take it to a engine rebuilder if you dont have the proper equipement

  2. The 1986 Mercury 200 HP was a 2.4 Liter Block.

This block utilizes what is called Chrome Bore technology. There are no cylinder sleeves (not from the factory at least) If you have cylinder wall damage you either need to have the block re-chromed or have the affected cylinder bored + sleeved by a professional marine engine re-building company.

It is possible the cylinder wall is coated with piston and ring residue. If this is the case an outboard motor shop can clean the cyl. walls with a special acid and they often will clean up without need of further machining.

If you do chose to have the block sleeved the machine shop will bore the block to the new dimension for the sleeve and press it in under heat and EXTREME pressure. If you have this done you will need to run special rings in the sleeved cylinders. The original rings are made to run on chrome cylinder walls and the sleeve will be steel.

Good luck with your project! If you need info on sleeving the block contact LA sleeve www.lasleeve.com

If you want to re-chrome the block contact  U.S. Chrome at www.uschrome.com

And if you need to know which pistons and rings to run in which cylinders contact weisco pistons at www.wiseco.com

If there is anything I can do to help just email me through this site.
