Places to stay in chester?

Question

we are thinkin of going to chester for 4 days, we'd want accommodation near the town as we dont have a car.

can anyone recommend a cheap, good, clean, safe b&b or cheap hotel?

Well, as a Londoner who's taken the occasional weekend break (we are allowed out sometimes, ;D ...) we visited Chester last year.

We stayed at the Laburnum House b&b, which is only a few minutes' walk from the cathedral. We got a double room with its own bathroom for £50, including breakfast.

I really liked it -- loved being so close to all the sightseeing bits.

Its phone number is 01244 380313 and if I remember rightly, it's in St Anne Street.
