Plasma or HDMI problem?

I have a Panasonic 50" plasma tv which is about 2 years old (this model was only exclusive to 1 store) and I have a Monster Cable HDMI connected to tv and an LG Up-Converting DVD player. Now the problem is sometimes when watching a movie on the DVD player the screen goes blank for 2 seconds (happens at any time) and the tv comes off but i can still hear sound from my 5.1 surround sound. Now i got a 80gb Ps3 and connected the same HDMI to it. Now when i play it still does cut off at anytime for 2 seconds but the tv doesn't come off, it goes black then comes back to where i was. I know its not the ps3's problem since i had been using it on my lcd monitor for about 2 months and this never happened. This 2 second thing happends every other day or sometimes days. All the other connections (component, svideo etc) on the tv are hooked up, but never gives problems.I bought extended warranty for the tv and it expires in december, so im wondering what I should do.

  1. i would get a new cable they do break eaisly

go on ebay and get one so much cheaper i got a 15' for 36.00

and at walmart i paid 27.00 for a 3ft cable

  2. I'd make use of the warranty, but if you want you can see if the hdmi cable is the problem.  They'll do that anyway, and if it is the cable, you would've taken the tv for nothing.  You don't need a Monster cable, or any expensive hdmi cable for that.  Grab some at monoprice.com.  Same quality and all.

  3. get a new tv, sounds like a hdmi sink issue. replacing the hdmi card will probaly do the trick but a new tv is better
