how many controllers can you use on the 80gb ps3 and can you talk to people online imeditley or do yuo have to buy somethin extra

PS3s have 4 controller ports. I'm not sure if you can hook up more than that (using a combo of wired/wireless), but I can see it being a possibility.  You need to buy a headset to talk to people online. With voice I mean. Some games have text chat where you don't need a mic. Otherwise you need either a blutooth headset or a USB one. I would check online or ask someone who knows before you buy a headset though as not all work with the PS3.

Previous posters are incorrect--the maximum number is 7 controllers (obviously not all wired)--remainder must be paired up.  No, you can't start talking immediately--you'll either need to purchase a secondary bluetooth/usb keyboard, or get a headset.  I was able to use a typical microsoft bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo and plug in the base to the USB port on the PS3.  Worked like a charm
