My sunburst platy nips at the other red Platy.

What to do??

  1. Separate them, if you just moved them in together they might just be fighting over territory. If it gets to bad separate them.


  2. you can do nothing. . .I am a former platty breeder. . . next time make sure you dont buy another male platty or this will happen. .  

  3. How big is your tank?  You could add more fish to reduce the aggression.  I believe the reccomended number is three females per male (the males have a modified fin that is more pointed near the belly and a**s, while the females have a more fanlike tail).  Good luck!

  4. Try separating them. If that doesn't work, try making more hiding places or feed the sunburst platy. If all hope is lost, you may want to consider giving one of the two back.
