Heres what happened. I had a stress fracture in my femur last spring. I healed and started training for cross country and I injured my knee and my doctor recommended no runnig. Only swimming and biking. I may have gym class this coming semester and know that some of the activities will make my knee very painful tender and swell. My doctor can write a note but will the school make me participate. I live in ohio if that makes a diffrence

  1. If your doctor writes a note, they will not make you participate in the activities he says you shouldn't.  The school does not want to be sued for making you do something against medical advice!  Make sure you have that note, though.  They will not likely take your word for it.

You may still have to take PE as a class , since there are certain legal requirements, but you will likely be given alternative assignments (e.g. writing on PE/ health topics).

  2. let them make your participate and then sue them for all they've got because they can't make your participate against a doctor's orders.

  3. no the teacher might have you do something else to make a grade maybe even have you help him out with paper work.  Have you tried PT it would help your knee a lot
