Hey, My computer has a virus on it. And it says that it will crash if I don't get it fixed. And I was wondering if you know how to get off virus off of a computer. And do you know a very good virus scanner and remover that is free but helpful. And what's the link to the website.

  1. Most "free" virus scanners are viruses in themselves... and if not viruses, addware/spyware.  You would be better off purchasing McAffee or Norton Antivirus.

Or have a computer savvy friend back up the stuff you want to save and start from scratch.  Virus scanning agents often choke the performance of your computer.  If you use Firefox and not IE, and are careful enough while surfing you will not have problems with viruses.

  2. Here is a great tool I use to clean some of our work pc's.

    combofix

Scroll down to where is says download from one of these links

    You can also use malwarebytes

  3. if it is saying that it will crash if you don't fix it, you propobly don't really have a virus.  You have some sort of spyware on your computer that is popping up that message.  deffinately DO NOT click on the message as it will propobly install even more stuff you don't want.  You should have a program installed called Windows Defender under your programs list. Open the program and run a scan and it should detect and delete it.

  4. MESSENGER SPAM

STEP #1,if this does not solve your problem,e-mail me for step #2

do you get pop ups claiming that your computer is at risk?

those are called "Messenger Spam" ! to stop messenger spam:

open start page, open administrative tools, open services

these services are in alphabetical order.you need to close two:

    a] Alerter

    b] Messenger

NOT related to MSN messenger or any other instant messenger

right click each service, click properties, from drop down menu, select disable::another method to deal with those that get through is to copy the pop up address at the top of the pop up or pop under [ starts up AFTER you close a window ]::open internet options [ start--control panel--internet options ]::open content tab, open settings, open enable, enter address, click never,close::open Advanced tab: check to see if pop up blocker is checked,close::reboot
