Please help me out any suggestions???

so my husband works for the long beach port in california and im planning to move out from where we are living i want to move to a city that isnt to far from long beach the most im willing to drive out there is 20 to 30 mins the less the better. anybody recommend any good areas i have a baby so i need something very calm. The area i live in which is in downey is pretty calm but the one or two bedroom apartments are getting so expensive so i want to find something cheaper. i heard san pedro has pretty good areas with affordable apartments. any suggestions?

the most im willing to pay for a 1 bedroom is 950.

for a 2 bedroom i guess it would depend on the size.

San Pedro is nice in parts, some of it's pretty run-down, kinda like most of Southern CA.

Long Beach within 5 blocks of the coast is very nice in Belmont Shore, Belmont Heights, Bluff Park and the Peninsula.
