i am 20 yrs old doing my mbbs from another country so i've got to live in a hostel.its just the neighboring country but i still feel as if I'm a world apart from home. we just shifted from junior campus to the senior campus and i stopped talking to my roommie(she's been a *****, really) who was kind of the only one i used to hang out. now here everything's different. we've got 5 floors in the hostel and my other batchmates (11 other girls in my hostel) are on different floors. my new roommie's cool but she's got a bf too like the 9 others so she's with him most of the time. i'm left alone. the only other girl now hangs out with my ex-roommie and tries to mak things worse between us. well she can't do anything worse than it already is. well now im so so so alone. and the only thing i have got to do (obviously apart studying) is internet and tv. i can't even go out to eat alone cause nobody ever will have time to go with me. i feel so so miserable. i should put all my effort and time into studying but this is making me waste even more time. what should i do? isn't it possible to live without close friends.

  1. As a matter of fact Shreddr it is absolutely possible. The other thing is whether you want it or not.

As much as I can see, you have lot´s to do about studies and this is why you´re there right now and not at home. So, why not concentrate on what´s more important for you then looking for some so-called friends?

Are you going to let yourself so down because of not having some-one to accompany you for lunch? Hey, that´s ridiculous !

When you´re making pauses from studying, take a walk, ride a bicycle, go shopping or read a good book!

Somebody whom you´ll like will appear!

  2. It all depends on you and your disposition, after all. If you really can live without friends around, you should not mind them being indifferent to you. Even that very thought should not occur to you. You should be businesslike when you talk to them and once you finish, you have to mind your own routine, like say, studies.

But, if you are affected by the isolation, you have to ascertain whether you are the real reason for such a sorry state of affairs. If you can analyse and find out the reasons, you can go for the remedial measures and restore normal, friendly relations to your liking.

The whole world is like a mirror. It reflects your own image and actions always. And to sum it up, everything is in your hands. You can manage them in the manner you like and enjoy life.

  3. You need to meet new friends.  Does your school have clubs?  If so, join those that interest you.  You will then have a common bond with the people there.  It'll be easy to start up a conversation and lead to a friendship.  You must get out and enter a social situation.  You'll be happier once you do.
