  1. perhaps they had just forgotten and when they realised it was a time that would have been inconvienient to you and them as a family.  Your parents are people just like you and have lives that sometimes collide with yours.  Speak to them, tell them how much it would mean to have someone come stay, make a date, put it in the diary, makes plans that include them ie what food you could get in, what dvd's you could wathc etc.......

    planning is the key.

I can well understand you being mad at your parents.  They should not have agreed and then changed their minds.  However they changed their minds before you texted your friend so at least no damage was caused there.  There may have been reasons which your parents forgot and which would have clashed.  Nevertheless they should have told if this is the case.

If there were no plans I would ask your parents why they agreed and then changed their minds.  Tell them it is wrong to do this.

Tell them you would really like him to stay over and then plan with them things to do etc over the weekend to make his stay a really pleasant one if they are agreeable to this at another time.   I would even involve myself in planning the menu for the meals and help with the cooking.

See if you can stay over at your friend's house and ask your parents if that's OK?

Another thing you could do is to introduce your friend to your parents so they get to know him.  They may be more agreeable next time.

    Good luck
