is there a way you can guarantee a female when breeding two of the same type of pokemon at the day care center (same question with the males)

There is no way to do that.  The gender of the Pokemon in the Egg is based on it's Gender Ratio, a statisic in the game itself.

Best thing to do is when you're about to recieve the Egg from the Daycare Man, SAVE YOUR GAME FIRST!  If the Egg doesn't hatch into a female, turn off your game and go back to the save before you recieved the Egg.

If this is a Pokemon you can find in the wild, you're better off looking for said Pokemon there.

If you mean getting a female pokemon. You could go to florama town to hatch the egg. And for male pokemon hatch it anywhere.I got it from the magizine i ordered from becket pokemon.

IF you hatch an egg in Floaroma Town, it will always be a female unless it is a male only or genderless Pokemon, like Magnemite and Tauros(80% chance)..........

ok its 50/50 either its male or female but if your intrestead in eggs you can breed certain pokemon to learn diff atks like a male wobbaffet with a female ralts the "love child " will have desnity bond or any other atk the wobba knows just make share to move the atks u want to the first to slots in wobba's atk set then your golden go to serebii.net to see all the breeding combos
