Question:

Pokerstars suspect?

Having played hundreds of Pokerstar (free money) tournaments, I'm wondering if the cards are actually dealt randomly or if they're "programmed" in some fashion. A lot of hands seem a bit too coincidental to be true. Anyone have the same feeling?

  1. Poker Stars has always had the best and most random shuffle in the industry and is independently verified.  It's more random than a human shuffle and is more like shuffling the cards for a few hundred years which would slow the game down quite a bit :)

  2. All the Online Casino sites are similar. I play on Ultimate bet and Full tilt and it happens there too.

    Example:

I am holding an A (heart) and 8 (spade). I can not make anything out of the hand and fold on the turn.

The next time the cards are dealt out the flop has the cards that were in my hand the previous time. Or maybe two aces.

    Or another example is this:

the flop is Ace, ten, five,. The turn is Queen. The River is ten.

I am out of the hand after the flop with my 7-8 suited.

The game is over and the Aces win.

The next hand I get Ace, ten. The same two that were sitting there on the last flop.

Here is the scoop. They have millions of sequences that can be dealt out at any given time. The site does not know who will get the cards but they can target what will come out. So the only random part is who will get what. The site goes through sets and sets of sequences and variables. It is programed into the system. That is why at times we see similarities. This may have been dealt before or the sequence of cards due to come up. The programer that makes these sites puts every known variable into the computer and it will come up at given times, randomly.

My husband was going to start a poker site, he is a bigger Poker Player (pro) than me. He plays real frequent and does well. But he changed his mind since it can raise heck with the IRS. And we dont need them on our backs.

    Good Question.

  3. Online poker rooms do not use pre determined hands and flops, nor do they "set up hands".  They use what is called a RNG to deal the cards.  Random Number Generator.  It works sililar to a slot machine wheel.  It continuously spins until the final action is made and where it stops determines the next card in sequence.  There may be some shading dealings going on at poker sites, (ie. cheating, bouncing payment checks) but the dealings are 100% legit.  Trust me.
