Police this day in age do not get paid the amount of money they should for the work that they do. Do you think that the amount of money they make will go up in the next 8-10 years?

  1. Hopefully salaries will go up for police officers.

Unfortunately the taxpayers are not willing to give any more of their money to the government so salaries can be increased.

  2. None of us do this job for the money..thats for sure. However, there has be a point when we get a decent salary. I know of some officers in my state from smaller depaertments who are also eligible to collect federal welfare because thier salaries are so low.

I know when I first started I was only making about 11 bucks an hr and that wasnt that long ago. Luckily i'm almost double that know but even at that I am still below the national average in my field. In my particular agency I havent had a COLA increase in 5 years...

  3. Teachers don't make enough ether. Officers do OK, however for the work and hours, more is better. God bless the men and women that do this work. Without them we would be hosed.

  4. I'm not in it for the $$$$$.

  5. I'm not complaining about how much I get paid.

I wouldn't turn down a raise, but I didn't take this job to get rich.

  6. Depends on the power of the union and the ability of the municipality to pay.  Current salaries range from the mid twenties to the low one hundred thousands.

You can bet those municipalities with the higher salaries will still out pace the lower ones.

  7. I don't think it will, but it should. For some of the stuff they put up with, they do deserve to make more money.

-Also, I'm not a fan of police. But I respect what they do and what they go through.
