  1. The National Association for Family Child Care offers direct training materials and accreditation of small in-home early child care providers: http://www.nafcc.org/include/default.asp

But childcare associations at the local and state levels seem to be an unevenly developed resource. In Virgina, The Virginia Alliance of Family Childcare Associations http://www.vafcca.org/index.html seeks to promote local groups of child care providers, and offers assistance in child care training and certification. But there is not a lot of formal policy/procedure for these organizations, and I suspect you might do well to contact some people involved in setting up such organizations, directly, for their advice: http://www.vafcca.org/localassociations....

One of the largest local groups in Virginia is the Prince William Family Child Care Association, with about 380 members, but they don't appear to have an independent Web site. But they and several other Virginia local associations do have phone and email contacts for members: http://www.vafcca.org/currentmembers.htm...
