We Hear and or say it quite often if you play on a snooker table then go to a 7-8-9-ft aka pool table its a lot better.Do you think we just pay more attention to our game on a snooker table because we are not familiar with it,And pool tables are second nature to us so we dont really give a shot the thought we should

I noticed my wife's game getting a little off she would just shoot without really thinking it out then we went to Bogies and got on the snooker table and i noticed right away she beared down and got into the shots i told her if she put that effort into her reg.play she would be a lot better off .musta sunk in shes been kicking a-- all week even shot me a safety from h**l last night ive created a monster!!

But just give it some thought your skill (once you have it ) doesnt change that much but your intrest might just give the same attention to a pool table that 87 degree cut just might start going in the pocket more often

Besides I just wanted to ask a question

  1. It's a little mental, going to a new game: but the rounded pockets are a little different and the attention to pocket speed is increased in snooker. I think this just transfers into a better stroke so in that instance snooker does I believe help at pool

  2. I cannot disagree about paying closer attention to shots on the snooker table. In theory the pockets are in the same place. But the distance is what throws some players off.

And yes, I feel like a world-beater after dropping down from a 10-footer to an 8 or 7-footer when league play begins.

But the game snooker itself was never the reason I began playing on a snooker table. It was the game of "golf". Many years ago I lived in Burbank, Calif. and Kelly's Pool Room on San Fernando Blvd. was the place to be. I saw players break and run out only twice. But you sure learned how to "bank" and "kick"... or put your hard-earned money on the rail. Personally speaking, to me the game "golf" is the game on a snooker table. Kelly's was the place I first saw Ronnie Allen. He was just an 18-year-old kid making the rounds hustling. No one at Kelly's would play him 9-ball... conversely, I never saw Ronnie Allen try these guys at Golf.

Oh, Johnny... what makes you think "you've" created a monster? Could be the little lady has been holding back and letting you think that you're the better player. Women are sneaky, dude. Gotta watch'em all the time. Have a great day, Jay.

  3. I totally agree with ya Johnny. It's the '' When the going gets tough the tough get going '' type of thing. Everybody knows Allison Fischer. A world snooker champion many times over. I remember when she first started playing nine ball she struggled a little , not much ,but a little. Maybe they told her how easy it was gonna be and she took it to heart. Maybe her concentration level dropped just a touch. Anyway it didn't take her long and she was the champ. Good point Johnny! Maybe thats why my game goes up a notch when I go from the bar box to the nine footer. Better quit givin your wife advice or soon she'll be givin you the 8 and the break! Later
