Porch/Deck question?

How much would supplies cost me to build an 8X12 porch with railings? I want a free standing porch.

Average cost for materials for a plain deck is around 5.50 dollars a square foot. So 8 x 12  would be around 550 dollars for the basic materials which are.

2x8 framing and 4 x 4 support post. 2 x 6 deck boards,  treated screws and some specialty brackets.

The height of the decking off the ground can slightly change the cost, as well as weather or not you dig holes for the post and cement them in.

Railing varies with material and type, also how many sets of steps do you need? 1 is usually included, more are extra.

Lights? water outlet? Built in bench seating or BBQ area with fire resistant surface? All extras.

You can go to most home depots and Lowe's and the will put your dimensions in their computer and give you a materials workup sheet with a cost estimate for free.

take a drawing or sketch of your deck to a local building supply store i.e Home Depot .they can work with you to make up a material list and cost analyst. if you don't have a drawing the can make you one or you can review books from the library or local building supply store

You need lots more details before you will be able to get an accurate price.  Take the plans you are using, make a list of all supplies and bring it to the builder's supply store.

Railing have regulations.  Find out what yours are before you buy anything.
