Question:

Porch step railing mounts?

I have a front porch with new steps, it is in need of railings! it had a iron railing on the left side but mom wants wooden railings on both sides. the steps are about 8 feet long, and 2 inches thick. how is the best way to mount a railing to these steps? Id like to take some 4x4 posts and attatch that to the steps via some sorts of sleeve that screws to the steps and the post. I can do the rest myself but I am wondering if that would be sturdy enough to hold some weight or how else can I attach these 4x4 posts to be stronger? any advice? I will give a best answer to the person who helps the most!

  1. i would guess to say go to a hardware store and get flush mount 4x4 post mounts, a box of 1 1/4 inch tap con masonary screws...check the box and make sure the drill bit is there,if not get one,and a dewalt hammer drill.....that should make your support poles strong for years
