Port holes on Carnival?

What exactly is a port cole? Can you look out of it and see the water?

  1. A port hole is a round window that you get to look out of to see the water if you get an ocean view room on one of the carnival cruise ships.


  2. A port hole is standard to any ship irrelevant of whether or not it is Carnival.  A port hole is a small circular window usually about half an inch thick.  It will have a metal plate also about a half inch thick that you can pull down over the window to make it watertight in case of rough weather.  These are usually found on the lower decks of the ship (obviously on the outside).  The higher decks, particularly on the newer ships will have full size windows and even balconies and verandah's.
