  1. longer bikini season!

  2. none

  3. For awhile, countries like Russia, Canada, and the Scandinavian countries will have longer growing seasons, which will enable them to increase their agricultural production.  These benefits, unfortunately, will be only temporary.

I recently read that the ice sheets on Greenland and Antarctica have liquid water at the points where they make contact with the earth.  Some of this comes from rain, which leaks through the ice.  Some of it comes through heat generated by friction as these sheets move toward the ocean.

What this means is that it is likely that their rate of movement toward the ocean will accelerate.  This will increase the average sea level of the world's ocean (we really have only one).

If all the ice on Greenland and Antarctica goes into the ocean and melts, sea level will be raised by about 200 feet.  This will doom coastal cities and low-lying countries, such as Bangladesh and Holland.

I learned about this from an article in the "Scientific American."  The article had a map showing how Florida would look if sea level were raised by 200 feet.  Just about all of it would be submerged.  All that would be left of the state would be two or three small islands.

Untold millions of people would be displaced everywhere on the planet, and there would be massive migrations inland everywhere in the world.  It would be very hard to peacefully accommodate these new migrants.

  4. rain in the desert

  5. It may be good for the agriculture in America, so selfish people (which there is no shortage) of may like it.  However, the benefits in the US will not compare to the devastation that will be caused in Africa and Southern Asia.  That is especially not fair considering how little polluting they do.

Already the UK and Eskimos are facing problems and they may have many more problems in the future.   Here is what the  BBC had to say about global warming and costs "Europe's leading insurance companies are now so worried by global warming, they are likely to use their financial muscle to get governments and the world's oil companies to do more to cut greenhouse gas emissions." Here is one reason according to Joseph Kenny, "For the 5 year period from 1998 to 2003 (the last on public record), weather related insurance claims in the UK amounted to £6 billion. This figure is almost double that paid out during the 5 period immediately prior to this."  In Africa, Global warming is predicted to have a "devastating" wrecking the lively hood of about TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY MILLION people according to the IPPC. It will also bring drought in some areas and flooding in others. According to the Chief Science Adviser of the British government, David King, "An additional 70 million Africans could be at risk of starvation by 2080"

  6. Many people that other wise would not have been talking are now fighting ,I mean chatting about Global Warming

  7. Resources--try the IPCC and NASA websites.  They have good information and links to other resources.

As to the "consensus" that global warming is a dire threat, that is because it is. There are no real benefits to us.  That idea--that there are such benefits--has no factual basis; it is simply the product of propaganda on the part of special interests.

    Heres some specifics:

    >by 2050 there will be--at a minimum--150 million refugees, mostly from flooded coastal areas.

    >we can expect a collapse of the oceasns as a food source as warming waters further stress marine species already dwindling due to overfishing

    >When the glaciers melt, this reduces water supplies. For example, 70% of the fresh water for India and China (1/3 of the world's population) comes from glaciers that are vanishing

    >the above also means the loss of a significant part of the world's agricultural productivity.

There's more--but you get the idea.

Also, NOTE--loss of water and flooding are the two chief problems, NOT the rise in temperature itself. The ridiculous notion that warming will open up large new areas to productive use in the Artic and Ant artic is a fantasy--the temperatures aren't rising THAT much.

Bottom line: there is no benefit associated with global warming.  And oil company propaganda sheets to the contrary are NOT scientific evidence.  The facts say that if we do not act, we are headed to disaster.

  8. One positive outcome of global warming is that educated and intelligent people get to tell the Republicans "I told you so".

Not that it is much consolation.

  9. All we can do is look at what happened last time and superimpose the present population.

The fastest growing part of the country, population-wise, is the Southwest.    The Southwest has experienced increasing drought and in the 1100s and 1200s suffered severe droughts, much worse than anything we've seen yet.

There are parts of the world where agriculture will benefit, winters will be milder, etc....    In fact a prolonged La Nina could actually make for stable and cool climates in many regions.

    But some regions will suffer.

If the warming resumes - potentially even if the present temps are maintained.

You have GOT to read my debate.  Soulja went off and it was HILARIOUS!!!!!

People who think global warming is scientific fact are idiots and about as intelligent as the flat earth society.  Read my debate above.

  11. I read somewhere that oil companies think that if Antartica melts, there will be more oil, and more land to build on.

  12. Global Warming, or in the specific...Greenhouse Effect, is necessary to support life that we have today.  Without it, we would remain in a constant Ice Age.  Most people are unaware that the most abundant Greenhouse Gas is water vapor as opposed to Carbon Dioxide.  Water Vapor has been listed as 70-95% of the Greenhouse Effect depending on what source you use.  The NOAA website listed below talks about the Greenhouse Gases, but unfortunately does not list them by concentration.  Most sources that list concentrations do not mention Water Vapor.

  13. The need for proof-reading your own writing will become even less important than it apparently already is.

  14. Lowering fuel costs to warm buildings.

    Increase crop yields.

    Longer growing season.

Crops can be grown at higher latitudes

    Decrease cold related deaths.

    Environment should support more animals

Fewer baby animals dying in winter.

Fewer people dying of malnutrition and starvation.

Warmer winter temperatures (most of the warming is actually from warming on the coldest times)

    Warmer night temperatures.

Increased CO2 in the atmosphere means a plant needs less water.

    Less shivering.

Cold is a killer.  Warmth generally brings prosperity.

  15. Hotter weather means fewer clothing on s**y women!
