Question:

Post-Op Wisdom Teeth Question.

A few days ago I had all four of my wisdom teeth extracted along with another broken tooth. I am pretty sure a nerve was hit in my jaw, because I have lost feeling in my face below the lip line on the left side of my face. Some people say this is common, some say something is probably wrong. If you or someone you know has had the same problem, what happened with it? How long did it take for the feeling to come back? Or did it ever?

  1. I just got mine out a week ago also, but I haven't had any problems. I wouldn't rely on the people here to tell you. I'd call the OS, as he's probably encountered many cases of this in his career and he can tell you how long it generally lasts and what you can do.

  2. The same thing happened to my mom. She went in to get a cavity filled and the dentist kept injecting her with more and more anesthesia, and eventually hit the nerve. It's been over two years and the right side of her lip is still numb/tingly. It's different for everyone. Some people's will come back in time, could be any range of time, too. It could be a few days, a few weeks, months, or some may even take years, but do come back. Some people's will stay permanently.
