I thnik my mom may be suffering from post partum depression.

My brother that is the youngest is 10.

Shes been talking about wanting another baby.

Shes spending more money than usual and not wanting to do anything.

My daughter is 5 weeks old and I moved back in with my parents.

May I have added to this?

Can I help?

Just advice please.

  1. does your mother have a job? sometimes this stems from just being bored. perhaps she just would like the unconditional love of a child or just something to take care of. a lot of the time getting a house pet like a puppy really helps

  2. Maybe she is having a hard time switching from being a mom to a grandma.  Give her some time to get used to it.

  3. im sorry but its most likely regular depression. I really doubt it is post partum depression after 10 years. Its probably the fact that you had a baby and she would like one that has caused this...sorry but thats what it sounds like to me.

  4. If you just moved in, then she needs time to adjust to the new situation.  People can become depressed after a huge transition, and you and a baby moving in is a huge adjustment.  She says she wants another baby probably because she sees your baby and wishes for those "baby years" again.  As soon as you are able, I would move out of the house because you can not depend on your parents help forever.
