Question:

Postpartum bleeding?

Kind of a strange question, but it has been 6 years since I had my last baby.

I know I will be bleeding for a few weeks, depending on my body, but my question is this. I never used pads for periods, always tampons or Instead, so I was wondering if anyone had a particular type of pad they would recommend for after I have the baby? I went to the store and there are so many choices it was ridiculous. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

  1. They give you these gigantic pads at the hospital, and you will need them. They usually give quite a few, but if not, get the largest pads you can find. You might even use Depends in the beginning, but I never had to because they gave me about a weeks worth of gigantic pads. Bleeding lasts for as long as 2 weeks and maybe more, but gets less and less. I forgot and it has only been 6 months.!

  2. I can tell you what NOT to get. My husband accidentally picked up the ones for incontinence and they hurt- an area that is already sore.

I actually sat on cloth diapers while I was home, these were most soothing.

  3. I used the always overnight heavy pads when I had my m/c, which was some very heavy bleeding.  I can't remember what I used when I had my girls b/c that was also over 6 yrs. ago.  anyway, those should work good for you.  Congratulations, I hope that is me soon!
