Potential MacBook Viruses??

I want to download music from frostwire (limewire brother i guess) but im afraid my new macbook will get a virus like my PC did many times b4 no matter what antvirus software i had.. should i just not download or does mac have software i can get

Take a step up and use a real P2P like Azureus. You'll have to learn how to use it but if youre smart its a lot safer then limewire.

There are very few viruses that will infect Macs. The risk is pretty much close to none. In recent years the percentage of attacks to Mac OS via viruses has been so minimal that there is no need to have an anti-virus installed in a computer running mac OS. However, I do not recommend you to use frostwire or limewire as a source of music, this is considered to be illegal and as such you may get yourself into legal problems.

In short, one of the benefits of owning a Mac is that is very close to be virus immune.

Jazmin, there are no released MacOs X viruses. You cannot as of today get a virus from Limewire etc. I repeat, there are no released MacOs X viruses. You cannot get one by visiting a website etc. There are 3 released MacOs X trojans. They do not duplicate, to get one you have to visit a website, agree to download it, agree to install it, and put in your admin password twice. One is a fake Mac poker game, one is a fake Mac anti-virus, one is a fake Mac viewer for p**n. If you download a music file and it asks to install something on your Mac, then someone is sending you one of those trojans. Odds are against it. Just don't agree to install it. There are over 1,000,000 Windows viruses, odds are someone may send you one of those, but it won't do anything except take up your hard drive space. I did tech support for 10 years, never had a Mac running MacOs X with a virus.

It would be better to use limewire because LimeWire is proved to have less viruses than any other Filesharing Program.
