Power 2 speakers from 1 output?

Question

I have a receiver that has 100 watt max output per channel. Currently, all outputs except for 1 are being used. I have 2 small speakers that I want to power that are 50 watts max each. What would happen if I connected the two speakers to the 1 output on the receiver? Also, the receiver allows you to adjust the volume of each speaker so if needed I can turn down the volume to just those two speakers. Any ideas or input? Thanks

the max output of reciever would split between the 2 50 watt evenly but be carfull as when one of the speakers is not or accidently unplugged the remaining speaker will get the full 100 watt and will blow

By connecting two speakers to the same output, you'll be changing the impedence of the load.  This will result in poor quality of the sound with lots of distortion, and possibly damage your receiver.

Typically, speaker outputs come in pairs.  Which output is not being used?

There are 2 ways to wire your speaker "parallel" or "series". To wire them parallel you take both neg. from the speakers and connect to the receiver neg, and both pos. from the speakers to the receiver pos.

To wire them in series (I suggest this way but use what sounds better) wire from receiver neg to speaker A neg, speaker A pos to speaker B neg, speaker B pos to receiver pos.

You can adjust the sound level with either wiring method if your receiver is capable
