Question:

Pre-calculus?

I am a former teacher who is changing careers and looking forward to one day homeschooling my own kids. In the meantime, I have returned to school and really need to refresh my pre-cal skills (it's been ten years), so that I can successfully complete calculus next semester. Any suggestions on programs, websites, etc? Thanks in advance!

  1. I highly recommend Teaching Textbooks:

    Here's the Pre-Calc page:

    My son is using their Algebra I now and we love it.

  2. Saxon advanced mathematics would be a great all around course for someone who needed to refresh math skills that they have studied previously; then move on to Calculus.

    You will be well prepared to start your next semester with either.

    Click on the green section upper grade math levels.

    A support DVD to use with each text book can be obtained from http://www.diveintomath.com/

    All these products can be obtained at discounted price through several home school curriculum suppliers, here are three;

    Good luck with your classes.

    EDIT:

    Here is a web site that will let you study pre-calculus for free with video lectures.

  3. Video Text Interactive has a great program, very concept-based and easy to use.  Math U See and Saxon also have good programs.  My son will use VTI when he gets old enough, but I know that others have given MUS and Saxon good reviews.

  4. You should contact this online Calculus teacher and see how she teaches. She's an excellent teacher of calculus and teacher home school students: http://www.wiziq.com/tutor-profile/2634
