1. I am 25 wks and have put on 30lbs. I know, it's ALOT. I haven't been able to excercise for the longest time because I have been so fatigued but over the last few days I have walked or cleaned for exercise and I plan on exercising every day I can from here on out. I also am going to try to cut back on the fast food I am eating due to cravings. How much exercise is too much at this point in pregnancy? Would it be bad to lose weight (although im not trying to lose weight, just stop gaining so much)?

2. Did you gain weight in other places other than your stomach? All my weight is on my stomach. I know in the last weeks you gain weight from water weight/bloating but throughout the pregnancy, were there any other areas you gained weight?

  1. Firstly, please ask your midwife about your rapid weight gain as this can be a sign of one of a few medical problems during pregnancy (especially at this early stage).

Once you have ruled out any medical issue then you will be able to do moderate exercise throughout your pregnancy.

You could do walking and swimming so long as you make sure not to push yourself too hard.

You may find the gym too excessive, this is very normal,it's not advisable to use treadmill and weights etc during pregnancy anyway.

Try starting with introducing more walking into your daily routine i.e. take the stairs, walk to the shops instead of driving (so long as you don't have too much to carry back).

Work up from here but always listen to your body, you will need to slow down as soon as you begin to feel too overworked.

Above all,try to enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible and,so long as your doing your best exercise and diet wise to take care of yourself and your baby, don't be too harsh on yourself.

  2. Im 35 weeks pregnant and put on around 8kgs. Exercising is ok during pregnancy actually its very good but if your body isnt used to a lot of exercising then only do slow short walks, you dont want to do any halm to yourself or your baby.

Dont try and lose weight, eat what you want! You're pregnant and once your baby arrives then you can lose the weight.

All my weight is in my stomach as well.

  3. I gained 31 lbs total and up until the last 8 weeks it was only in my belly. Then I started gaining weight in my hips and thighs becuase I had pre eclampsia and I was swelling up. I had a TON of water weight because I was so swollen. I was back down to my pre-pregnancy weight 2 and 1/2 weeks after my son was born.

  4. gentle exercise such as swimmin and walking are good in pregnancy :-) i go swimming a few times a week myself. You shouldn't really be so concerned about your weight gain sweetie, you are pregnant after all! As long as you eat a healthy, well balanced diet & do a little exercise you should be fine. If your doctor/midwife hasn't mentioned it then you should't worry :) Good luck x

  5. i am in the same boat. I want my baby to get all the vitamins that he needs but in the same time I don't want to get too big where after the baby i am going to be out off shape. I am 22 weeks and I gained about a 15 lbs. The doc said that is ok to gain about 1lb a week which I kinda stayed in that but I still feel like I am gaining too much. The nutritionist at the just for moms told to cut on sweet, fry food, the sour cream, mayo, etc which I don't really eat to much off but I eat lots of bread and potatoes. I don't even fast food all that much and I do eat veggie and fruits but I am constantly hungry.

I have a healthy lil fella and that all it matters. He owes me big time since i lost my body and I am getting my stretch marks....lol....but I love him sooo much and I want him to be happy.

  6. I gained 85 lbs when I was pregnant!

  7. i gained 20 over my entire pregnancy. Most of it was at the end though. I think I did lose some and gain some here and there. I wasnt too worried. But now I am seeing as my daughter is 9 months old and I am still 20 over my pre pregnancy weight. I lost it all when I had her and then I gained it back. Shame on me.

  8. i gain 4 stone in my first pregnancy. if you start eating healthly and try to do a little excecise each day (without overdoing it)(try aqua arobiques)you'll loss it after the babies born. i lost 2 stone overnight just by having the baby. try breast feeding this will also eat up the excess calories

  9. thats alot of weight to gain, but yet  its going to be sooooooooooooooo hard to loose as some ppl get water retension and just dont go back down to the size they were.... not good... i had cravings but didnt eat the junk cravings as it can cause probs... i only put on 9 kgs and gave birth 6 days ago to a 7 pound 10 baby. and my weight has gone back to pre pregnancy. i only gained weight on my tummy no were else...

  10. I gained weight everywhere!!!! but soon lost it after i give birth thank god!

  11. 1. I try to walk a couple times a week. there's not much us preggo's can do lol.

2.I'm 32 almost 33 weeks and I have gained 17lbs. Mine is all in my belly and b***s. And maybe a pound or two in my thighs

  12. Hi,

I am 26 weeks pregnant with twins and I have gained more than 40 pounds!! I had a small figure pre-pregnancy, So I guess I have to gain all that weight for the health of my babies! I don't usually do much exercise because I am either really tired, or flat our busy cleaning. I do a small amount of exercise every morning and take a small walk. I suggest that you keep eating how you are eating now but try to exercise daily. Don't try to lose weight because your baby needs you to gain weight so It has more room to stretch! Losing a little bit of weight wouldn't be overly bad, but it could make your baby pretty squashed and uncomfortable.

I have also gained weight in legs and my face is slightly chubbier. That's pretty much it!

    Good luck,

    Hope this has helped.

  13. With my first i gained over 50lbs and I'm only 5' tall.  I didn't do much exercise and although i ate all the right stuff for him i also ate tonnes of chocolate, pastries, pancakes etc.  Although i was overweight for some time after i had him (i had always been slim and toned before) i didn't really care as i had a lovely healthy baby, but it was difficult to shift the weight once i made a conscientious effort.  Now I'm over half way though with my second and i am really trying to not put more than 28lbs on (I'm 24 weeks and have put on 16lbs so doing ok!).  If you try and eat healthily, cutting out most of the junk and try light exercise like walking and swimming then you should be ok!  Its not advisable to start any harder exercise regimes now as it could be bad for you, but just walking and swimming is really good for you and your baby.

As for the weight gain, at the moment mine is in my bump and b*****s and maybe a little bit of water retention in my thighs.  With my first it was the same up until the last month when it spread to my face, arms and legs.  I think if you exercise a bit and eat right it should stay mostly on your stomach.  Good luck!

  14. some weight gain is normal ..do not diet ,but eat better ,get as much fruit and veg as you can ...only exercise like you did before the pregnancy ,its not the time to start something new ...walking and gentle exercise is best ...if its all in the stomach then its likly to be all baby weight and nothing else ...you may get some fuid gain on your legs and bottom ...but if you dont over eat you will loose it after the baby is born...
