why do the pros helmets only have one thing to cover thier ear

cause they only need an ear protector on the side of the head that faces the pitcher. they all have their personal helmets and there is no reason for the ear protector on the side of the head that faces the backstop. im sure only having one ear protector instead of two is much more comfortable

there are some batters in the pros that hit right and left, and they have helmets that have ear protectors on both sides.
