Problem With Guitar Teacher?

I've Been taking his lessons for a year now and he has a weird labeling system of fake named notes. The problem is i prefer using real names i learn from the book. I told him that and he said "O.K but you can still label this note B-Black B-Zero line and 1." I don't like his system because the names aren't real how do i tell that i refuse to learn that way?

Another thing is I'm not going to quit lessons.

  1. Well, if he's not going to change, and you're not going to look for a different teacher, then maybe your only other option is to learn it his way. Maybe he's on to something.

  2. Woof Woof. lol...... =)

  3. then go get another teacher. because, different teachers will have their own methods of teaching, so you are going to have to get another one because the lessons with this one aren't going to get  any better.

  4. Well, if you want to learn the right way, go to a guitar chords/tabs website, and learn all the names for the one's he has.  if you are learning notes, write both names (real and made up) next to the note. this may help you establish a two "language" system. He may be trying to teach you an easier way to remember notes or chords. he's a teacher for a reason. learn from him, but make sure you know the real stuff to, it could benefit you greatly to have another person's view on learning.

  5. tell him bluntly.. im not learning it that way, i want to learnt he proper names..

  6. If that is the way he teaches, your only choices are to learn his way or to quit and take lessons from someone else.  If you refuse to learn the way he teaches, you are just wasting money.  He won't change his methods because you would prefer something else.

  7. You don't have to quit lessons. Just change teachers. You are the client. If you don't like the service you are receiving, you have the right to switch.
