Question:

Problem with my ribs?

This may seem difficult to understand but let me explain. I have scoliosis, my upper back curve is at 60 and my lower back at 30. I have been to the chiropractor and physical therapy. I haven't got a recent x-ray but my chiropractor says it looks better.

I went bowling two days in a row, first of all, is that bad for my scoliosis?

later that night after bowling my rib popped in and it hurt to stand straight only for a while though. It kept doing this for about 6-12 weeks which is said that is the amount of time it takes for something like that to heal. Now when I'm sitting my rib starts to hurt. And I know it's probably from my rib popping in and out so my left rib is in front of my right rib.

By the way I do exercises with a physical therapy coach and I haven't been doing them lately, is this causing my rib pain, would doing my exercises help the pain? All my exercises contain a balance ball or my body and I have that at my house - yes I have my body too-. I appreciate your patience, please help.

  1. You really need to see your orthopedist and get a new prescription for a Physical Therapy evaluation.  It sounds like you may have subluxed a rib from overuse, but, without physically evaluating you, it's just an educated guess.  And be sure to ask your PT- a moderate amount of bowling (one game) may be beneficial to your scoliosis IF you bowl with the arm on the concave side of your scoliosis (eg. if your upper back curves towards your right arm, the right side is the convex side and the left side is concave).
