Question:

Problems with Western Grip...?

Okay, to start it off, I am really inconsistent with this grip. I do not want to change my grip. I can last for an average of 5 forehands, and I want to know how hard do I have to stroke. I currently use a Diablo Tour MPlus and use Forten Thin Blend strung at 45 lbs. I minimize the fanlike motion after making contact, which I think minimizes my net coverage (spin). My game is basically to hit an agressive shot to knock my opponent of balance and then come in and or put it away. Can someone give me a detailed tutorial on the perfect form for the western grip.

  1. Aim higher, thats it.

If you want to hit very hard with a western grip, you have to accept errors. If you want more consitency and deeper shots, give around 3 feet of net clearance for every shot. Check out this article at tennis.com about Nadal's forehand:

  2. Instead of describing it, you should look on the internet for photos or youtube videos.

    Google and ye shall find.
