Professionals get things wrong ?

Question

when i was 12 weeks pregnant i met my midwife for the first time and she let me hear my baby's heart beat . She told me my baby had a strong heart beat and sounded healthy . The following day i had my first scan only to find out that my baby had been dead for 3 weeks . The midwife made a mistake it was my heart beat she picked up . That was 3 years a go i have forgave her mistake now . I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar thing happen to them?

Yes its a common mistake but it does not make it right .

a humans heart beat is slower than a baby's so its not that hard to distinguish the two.

I am so sorry for your loss hun i cant imagine what you went through and i hope you made a complaint about this ,

ohh im sorry to hear that and it is kinda shocking that she made such a terrible mistake

that worrys me now that this is the sort of thing that could happen :(

yes hon they get it wrong very often

you were not supposed to know your baby was dead at that time - you needed to find out at the scan - why you ask? you may know this better than anyone else - was someone with you at the scan and not at the midwife visit?
