Definition of Subtraction

= a + [(-a) + 2]

Commutative property of addition

= [a + (-a)] + 2]

Associative property of addition

= 0 + 2

Inverse property of addition

= 2

Identity property of addition

how do you do the division ones..

can you show me how to do one of these by step?

6 * (a - 3) = 2a

15 * (3/b) = 45/b

(c - 3) + 3 = c

(a + b) - c = a + (b - c)

7a + (4 + 5a) = 12a + 4

  1. in the first one you have to distribute first

    6a-18=2a

    subtract 2a from both sides to get

    4a-18=0

    then add 18 to both sides to get

    4a=18

    then divide both sides by 4 to get

    a=4.5
