I was wondering how much does a prosecutor and/or lawyer get paid in South Africa?

How is the system for becoming a lawyer different from that of the US?

  1. Yes the system is different. We would normally enroll for a BA LLB(a 5 year course). Whereas you would complete your undergraduate degree first and then apply for law school.

We also follow different law to the USA, South African law is a mixture of British Common law and Roman Dutch Law.

  2. The system is the same, go to Law School or accredited University and pass the bar.  If you have backing, open your own practice or go into partnership or being employed by a law firm.

Re-numeration would be in the upper 60% of the salary scale as compared to other professional jobs.

The most lucrative field to practice in SA is Labor Law

You know MDs love to operate on lawyers because they have no heart and only two moveable parts which happen to be interchangeable.

  3. All depends on....

What's the difference between a good lawyer and a bad lawyer?

A bad lawyer can let a case drag out for several years. A good lawyer can make it last even longer.
