Question:

Psychic smells?

Sometimes there is a strong smell of pipe tobacco in my home.

I have previous experience of the same thing. I used to live in the same house as the person who smoked that particular tobacco; the aroma is distinctive.

Is it possible that the person in question can "follow" me to my present home?

  1. I'm not sure.  Has this person passed away?  If so, it can very well be.  I am not one to believe in ghosts, but I call them "Angel experiences."  My aunt has been able to smell her grandma's perfume in her house on a regular basis, and I can still smell my younger brother's shampoo and stinky diapers, almost two years after his passing.  (he wore diapers up till his death.)  Some people also say it's a memory, sort of like muscle memory or mental memory - it can subconsciencely come back to you.  I'm not too sure - but it is plausible to me.  (it happens with sounds, too.)

  2. If the person has passed over, then I would say it definitly isnt him. People dont linger around as earthbound spirits, except in movies, and in Sylvia Brownes make-a-lot-of-money-by-preying on-believers world.

It is more likely that the odor is lingering in the carpet or other fabrics. My wife can still smell the previous owners dog after a year, and several wet vacs, shampoos, and febreeze applications. I cant smell it, but she has a more sensitive nose than me.

Pipe smoke similarly leaves a very difficult to get rid of odor.

The other thing is that sometimes you can catch a quick wiff of brimstone (hydrogen sulfide) as demons pass through to our world from h**l. However this is quite a distict smell, like a rotten egg, or a f**t. You will smell it in one breath, and then it will be gone, leaving you to wonder. Especially if you are alone and there is noone to blame the f**t on.

  3. it could be psicological, or probably the walls specially if they are made of wood kept that smell

  4. It could be someone that is following you but I love Lisa J's idea that 'Febreze' will 'exorcise' a psychic presence.

  5. I have had the phantom smells before as well.

  6. I`d say it`s not only possible the person in question followed you to your present home , but is almost certainly living in either the attic , the basement , or under your bed !!

Do you get the feeling some things aren`t where you left  them upon returning home ? Is the remote control on the other side of the coffee table ? Does it appear someone`s been snacking on that leftover chicken in the fridge ?

I`d suggest a thorough search of the house Daphne ............... top to bottom ......... closets ......... cupboards .......... inside the dryer ............. everywhere !

Better to be safe than sorry . You know the old saying ........"who knows what evil lurks in .................."

  7. I lived in a house where a strong smell of bread baking would permeate certain rooms at random moments.  This could be a similar phenomenon.  There are 2 possibilities that come to mind:

    -  Spirits can follow you from place to place.  It may be that the spirit in question is checking in or staying around to try to resolve some issues that were not addressed during his life.  The presence of the spirit could spur a memory in you that is subconciously experienced as the smell of pipe tobacco.

    -  There is a theory that certain events or patterns can be "marked" in a particular space.  These events (usually, but not always, very emotional) are imprinted in the space when they occur.  At a later time, these same events can recur like echos.  People have reported seeing entire events playing out in thier homes as if they were just occurring.  Many people believe that these are spirits, but, according to this theory, it is just an echo of a past event.

I believe that the smell of bread in my previous home was an echo of some past event.  I didn't see anything, but the smell came through very strong at different moments.  Perhaps your pipe smoke is the result of an echo also.

Don't be afraid of it either way.  Things like this happen all of the time to many different people.  If you accept it and address it with a positive attitude, you will have positive results.  Good luck!

  8. probably still have tobacco smoke odour on your belongings, since you lived with the person.

    that stays for ages.

wash things that you can to get rid of the smell.

or get an 'odour eater', carpet cleaner/deodorizer.

there are loads of products in the shops, supermarkets

    to get rid of odours.

baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) works very well to neutralize smells. particularly on your carpet. sprinkle it and vaccuum up.

can leave it in open containers around to soak up odours too.

or in it's own box with lid opened.

also, the Febreze sprays work very well to get rid of odours.

spray around. you can safely spray Febreze on almost anything.

  9. sounds like someone has. does anyone you know of who has passed over smoked a pipe? it might be them. don't be scared though. spirits can't hurt you and probably don't want to anyway.

  10. oh wow, thats happened to me too, and i really feel comforted to believe that it is the presence of my grandfather who died a while ago. thats really special,  i think sometimes people who cared for us, just like to remind us that they are still here.

  11. Yes, They can be attached to something in your home.  and untill you figure out what it is you will prolly be stuck with them  You could try to tell them to leave you alone anmost spirts will but some  will stay with you as long as the object they are attached to is gone

  12. Id try the washing of curtains and other fabrics first before attributing this to supernatural smokers...

No, much more likely you have a stalker who lets him or herself in at night or while you are at work and lights up a smoke while raiding your chocolate digestives...and who has followed you to the new adr.

Do you have a maid or cleaner that you have used for a long while who has stayed with you  through different moves?

Or have you been smoking a little "something" yourself?

  13. No, but if you lived with him, there will be residual particles and hence smells on many of your clothes and perhaps other possessions as well.  These will get stirred up upon movement or draughts through the house.

  14. Yes. It certainly could. Is the person you knew who smoked pipe, passed away? This can be a memory of that Spirit. There is another possibility. The mind can "mimic" sights and smells, and it might be just the illusion of the smell.Or it might be that the home your in now, had a pipe smoker there. When the house warms up, smoke trapped in furniture, and curtains etc,is released through heat.So you see some possibilities. Do you ever smell the tobacco outside?

  15. It has been said that certain spirits attach themselves to humans or are drawn to a certain person. So I remain open to the possibility that it's true, although I have never personally seen that kind of thing happening myself or in the many cases my team and I have investigated.

    thanks for your post.

  16. Yes, a loved one thats watching over you.

  17. Quite possible.  My gran died in 1989 and died in a hospital.  My parents move within 6 years of her death and you can smell her perfume every so often.

  18. If its haunting you.
