So I am finally going on a vocation in August to Punta Cana and I was wondering is it safe to go in August because I heard all of the hurricanes go at that time. Since this is my first time going there what are some things I should bring with me and some things I should know before I go ?

Thanks!

  1. Not to put you off your vacation BUT:See your doctor or Travel Clinic now.

We had three people on staff who went there last year and took the medication.

    Malaria

Malaria is a high risk throughout Haiti and a risk in the Dominican Republic. There is no vaccine against malaria. Mosquito precautions are important for everyone in risk areas. Preventive medication is advised for travel to risk areas.

Dominican Republic  Risk in all rural areas and to all areas within the province of La Altagracia (including resort areas).  The tourist resort destinations of Punta Cana and Bavaro are located within La Altagracia.  Highest risk in areas bordering Haiti.  Chloroquine  is recommended.

  2. Hi Angelina !

Welcome to this beautifull country. Don't let tell stories about malaria and all other kind of stuff, this coming from people who don't know anything or jaleous people.

You will have a great time over there!. What to avoid ?

    1. Don't drink water from the tab.

    2. Don't drink to cold (ice cubes) the firs days, you stomach is not used to it.

    3. Avoid buying excursions/tours in the hotels they are to expensive, you can buy the same outside and much cheaper.

    What to do ?

Buy a very good sunblock, it is warm and the sun is hard on your skin.

Go and discover this beautiful country ( Saona island, Alto de Chavon?La Romana, Outback Safary)

Anyway enjoy ourself ! (let me know how it was)

    Happy Feet
