  1. No, they're from Germany, and changed their name from Sax-Coburg something or other to Windsor in World War 2 for patriotic reasons.  I think you're getting mixed up with their actual name (which is now Windsor) and the titles they have bestowed upon them.  As heir to the throne Charles is known as the Prince of Wales (this dates back to Edward 1st, when he overran Owen Glyndowyer, and claimed the Welsh lands.

  2. The British Royal family are not from Wales.  The queen's family was from  Germany and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh is from Greece, so Charles who is next in line to the British throne was born in Britain but is not really British.  Prince William is half British because of Diana.  Don't try and figure it out.  none of it makes any sense.

  3. It is irrelevant whether the British monarchy are Welsh, Scots, Irish or English because they are  rulers  of the British Isles/Britain/U.K. As you will see from previous answers, the house of Windsor descend from Germany.  This goes back to Britain running out of good protestant claimants to the throne with the demise of the last of the Stuarts, who of course were Scots. It was necessary to look abroad for a suitable candidate and it was the mother of George lst who was found to be next in line.  There would have been some blood relationship but  it gets quite involved.

  4. My grand father used to rant on about if we hadn't won the war we'd be ruled by Germans.

The fact is we are anyway with a bit Greek thrown in. If you go back through History the British royal lineage is full of non Brits.

This always makes me laugh about the likes of the British National Party and National Front  (Racist Political Organisations in UK for the benefit of the questioner).

When they are out campaigning for support, the symbol of their belief is the Union Flag which represents the UK and it's ruling family is probably the most racialy integrated family in the world and should therefore be their sworn enemy.

  5. Gee Whiz! I answered this question before, now here's the same answer & I get 4 points instead of two. Yippee!!!

No, the last monarch from Wales was Henry Tudor (Henry VII) in 1485. The present queen is descended from George I who was German. Might I suggest that you find a British Royal Family tree & study it? Not only is it instructive, but fascinating too!

  6. Where did you get the 'Wales' bit from? Charles Prince of Wales, is just his title. He doesn't actually come from there. The Duke of Edinburgh (The Queen's husband) is not from Scotland. He's a Greek who married the princess Elizabeth just before her father died making her the Queen.

David (Edward Viii) abdicated so that he could marry the twice divorced Wallis Simpson (no relation to Bart). She was an American. If it'd happened in this day and age, she would've been Queen. (the divorced Charles married the divorced Camilla and is still 1st in line to the throne)

Queen Victoria's husband Albert was a German Prince, so I suppose you could say that they're all descended from the German Royal Family.

The rulers of England are direct descendants. And boys come first! So at the moment, the next in line is Charles, then his sons William and Harry. That's why Diana said the famous line about her having done her duty by producing an 'heir and a spare'.

  7. They are German. Well, the Queen is, from Albert's side, then you have Phil the Greek. They invented the name Windsor in 1917 because Batten burgh was seen as too German during WWI. They are related to just about every other European monarchy due to the proliferation of Victoria and her marrying children.

  8. Well the monarchy aren't nominated. They just continue. So unless someone from Scotland married into the family then no.

  9. The current monarchy are made up of English, German and Greek origin.

The Greek comes from Prince Philip, the German comes from the Hanoverian dynasty going back to pre King George 111. The Stuart Royal family of King James the 1st are of Scottish descent. The UK has never had a Welsh monarchy in the last 1,000 years. The last time we had a pure bred English monarchy was pre Norman conquest of 1066, since then all monarchs have had a percentage of foreign blood. When Prince Charles becomes King he will be 50% Greek, 30% English and 20% German...
