Queen as figurehead?

Can you give me answers for and against having the queen as figurehead.....is she worth the money that taxpayers have to provide for keeping the royal family?...or should we treat them as other scroungers, and ban them to oblivion?.

They cost each household about .50p a year, now have a look at the crowds outside Buckingham Palace, the queen works a lot harder than most 20 year olds. Yes, there are a few in the family who aren't pulling their weight but I recon our royal family  should be kept.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had the choice? Unfortunately all governments think that they know what is best for us so we can only dream.

My personal view is that as I derive no benefit whatsoever from the existence of the royal family I shouldn't have to contribute a penny towards their upkeep.

My solution is to turn them into a charitable organisation so that those  who wished to revere, worship and support them could do so on their own.

The Royal family costs the tax payer a YEAR 63p. They bring more in tourism than that. Also you must not forget that she gave to the country a lot of the dwellings in return for an income. they are not scroungers you really need to read about the finances of the Royal Family before making silly statements like this.

There are probably now a lot more scroungers in the UK on benefits who do not want to work and will not work. We should be concentrating on getting them off their xxxxxxxx and working, or should we ban them into oblivion?

You cannot "ban them to oblivion".  The entire constitution of the United Kingdom is built on the concept of the institution of the Monarchy. The Government, the armed forces, police etc are all sworn in allegiance to defend the Crown at all cost. Only widespread human carnage could topple the Monarchy and that is not going to happen. The rest of your question is redundant.

queen gives us pride as a nation. britain would not be as it is today without royalty. she is the only one who can stop the government from doing what it likes. she truly has no alternative motive unlike the gov. so we can rely on her. she has many chariites, which the gov. doesn't. the world recognises a nation that has a crown, and watches what they do- money investment. queens country is a safe bet.

for the security she provides us as a nation, she is worth it. but as a citizen, you should be greatful, as she ensures we do not have a dictatorship.
