there's a free version..and there's also Limewire Pro which isn't free..

It's not illegal unless you download copy-right material..

Yes, it's free but you do have the option to purchase LimeWire for faster downloads.  And no, you can't get into trouble for downloading files off of it.  It's a peer to peer sharing system.

yes it free for basic yes its illegal but if anyone had any sense they would download limewire pro off limewire basic and there you have free limewire pro .i dont use limwire because its illegal and ddowloading music will rise up the price of albums.so why rise the price on people who dont have a computer to download music

Limewire is free to use. It is only illegal to download copywrighted material.
