I have a Char Broil H2o Deluxe charcoal smoker (i.e. a bullet smoker. I seem to be getting the hang of getting the temperature right. I fill the fire pan completely full with charcoal and start it with an electric starter, add lit charcoal (via a chimney) as needed. It seems to work fine. However, I notice that when I empty the ashes, I retrieve a lot of unburnt charcoal from the ashes. Seems to get smothered by the ash. My question is whether I: 1. Should stir up the charcoal from time to time during cooking. Problem as I see it is that it is hard to do as the smoker is set up. 2. Start with less fuel . 3. Leave well enough alone. TIA David
