  2. the ages for the school systems are typically as follows:

    ages 3-4= preschool

    age 5= kindergarten

    ages 6-11= elementary (grades 1-6)

ages 12-13= junior high (grades 7 and 8)

ages 14-18= high school (grades 9-12)

    18-22+ = college/university and continuation

sometimes people graduate high school younger (i did when i was 17), some graduate when they're older (19 or so)... but yeah.

cable... the Comedy Central channel is worth watching, MTV is popular among the young crowd, so is Fuse (some cable companies no longer have Fuse though), and VH1. A&E is interesting, so is TLC and the History Channels. if you're up late a few nights, turn the channed to Cartoon Network, as it switches to [Adult Swim] after like 8pm, and has some pretty hilarious cartoons like Squidbillies, Aqua Teen, and Home Vidoes and Family Guy. :)

as far as food and snacks go, we have typical american food like potato chips, cheetos, my favorite are Goldfish (and more specifically, the Parmesan flavor!)... common places to eat are generally fast food places, like McDonald's, Burger King, Jack in the Box (sometimes called "jib"), Wendy's, Carl's Jr./Hardies... my favorite fast food place is Wendy's, since it's less greasy and offers healthier selections than the other fast food places.

good restaurants are Chili's (not sure if they have one in Florida, i live in California), Ruby Tuesday's, TGIFriday's, Elephant Bar, Macaroni Grill, and if you want something just cheap and easy, do Denny's. Denny's is popular among the youngsters too, since it's open 24 hours. :)

be careful of who you talk to. most people are friendly enough to give you a quick "hi" response, but some people get pretty crazy if you even look at them. don't be afraid of the girls... the girls here are usually the friendliest, just don't confuse that friendliness for affectionate feelings. :) do go to the beach!!!!!!! try surfing if you can afford to or if you've never done it before... wear sunblock! take care of yourself.

:) have fun, kid. it's really pretty relaxing to live here. there's not much to it but fun. :)
