What are the benefits to recruiters? Why are they so hardcore on getting people to join and pretty much tell you LOT'S of BS to get you to join? Do they get bonus' for every recruit or what??

  1. They have a quota or specific number of recruits that they must get in a certain time frame.

  2. There are NO bonus'.  Each recruiter is an individual, they have a job to do and some are more ethical than others.  If you feel you have been lied to then I would suggest you ask to speak with the recruiters station commander, and or the Area Commander, which usually is a Captain.

  3. Most Army recruiters were selected for the position and did not volunteer for it. There truly are NO benefits to being a recruiter and we do not receive any bonus' for signing someone up. Recruiters do receive an additional $450 a month for special duty pay but this amount isn't based on numbers it's a flat rate per month. I use my special duty pay to pay for lunch everyday and to pay for my applicants lunch. Since I'm not on a military installation the additional money helps. We as recruiters are pushed very hard to find qualified men and women to join our ranks. We have to answer for each persons life decision. Sounds messed up that I (a recruiter) am held personally acountable for a civilians life decision. We don't use the whole BS thing either. I tell MY Army story in six different parts. These parts are Training, Education, Adventure, Money, Service to Country, and Travel. Most recruiters do not lie and are very giving of information. But remember we can't remember everything and we don't want to waste our time. If you have a question ask it. I am always willing to answer the tough ones. Recruiters get a bad rap mainly due to applicants not asking the right questions or after they join these people do not take advantage of everything the Army has to offer and then they want to complain about how bad the Army is. These persons get complacent and lazy. Why? Who knows. It's up to the individual to make their Army career everything it can be, not the recruiter. My recruiter was right about everything and did not lie. I have taken his example and pushed the very same values onto my own career. We are not your enemy and really only want to do our job and be successful. Hopefully you now have a greater understanding.

Most of these recruiters are combat veterans and will, after there 3 yr tour in recruiting, go back into the operational Army. They aren't trained as expert salemen and really hate being a recruiter anyways.
