Question about Harrods?

Question

I have never been there but i am doing geography coursework and i need to talk about shopping centres.

So would you say harrods had a good environment.

Was it clean?

Had greenery?

Seats?

Was the building in good quality?

Harrod's is a bit overwhelming, but I'll try to give you my impression of it.  I went there just to see what it was like.

I'll answer the questions first.  Greenery? yes, I seem to remember seeing some potted plants and trees for decoration here and there. Can't say I checked to see if they were live or fake.

The building is in excellent condition; absolutely gorgeous.

It was very, very clean.  As for seats, I imagine there must be some about, I didn't notice, but it is so crowded in some areas that there's no space.  Maybe in departments I didn't go to..

It's a huge department store, but rather than being a wide expanse of open floor plan, each section is divided into individual rooms, or salons. The doorways that you pass through are fairly wide, but you get the feel of being in a smaller space.  

It was so full of people, just teeming, and noisy.  When you first walk in, you pass through a security area, lots of very polite and well-dressed security men; some wearing impressive looking uniforms.  You must pass through here to get out, also. I don't imagine they have a big shoplifting problem here. (between the layout, cameras and security people.)

There is a huge area of 4-6 rooms that just has collectible, gift items with Harrod's logo on them. (yes, I bought some)

The food emporium will make you go crazy. So much incredible wonderfully displayed food items. The smells and sights and the whole experience was worth the effort of dealing with the crowds in the "touristy" area. Cheeses over here, cakes and pastries in another spot, candies and sweets over there, meats from the butchers, breads, drinks of all sorts, fresh fruits and vegetables. Ok, it sounds like a grocery store--but not like any I've ever been in. My reaction when I stepped inside this area was to stop in awe and just look it over and say "wow...."

Harrod's is not a shopping center in the usual sense of the term.  (Shopping center is generally a place with adjoining buildings in which several or many independent stores operate, sharing a parking area.)  Harrod's is a single store with many different areas selling different sorts of items.  It is a department store in London,  surrounded by lots of traffic and no parking area dedicated to the store.  It is clean, and the building is kept in good condition.  Whether it is a "good environment" is a judgment call.  I don't recall any greenery -- just sidewalks and traffic.

Yes Harrods is a department store , its really big and has cafes , good security and a load of different sections , some parts are more expensive than other's , but i wouldn't say that knightsbridge had very much greenery seen as it's on a road , why don't you check out the website?
