Question about Lima Peru?

Question

You know how to go from biggest to smallest for the US its like North America(Continent)-United States(Country)-Minnesota(State)-Olmsted...

how is it in Peru? Like is there anything in between the country and city? does it just go Peru-Lima or is there states or providences? I cant figure it out and even my geography teacher is unsure of it. Any info would be GREAT

There are 3 regions:

1.- The rainless Coast (much like San Diego and Baja California)

Is like a desert except for the valleys formed by rivers, great beaches for surfers. From North to South: TUMBES, PIURA, LAMBAYEQUE and the western part of LA LIBERTAD, ANCASH, LIMA, ICA, AREQUIPA, MOQUEGUA & TACNA. The eastern part are the highlands (between 4,000 - 15,000 ft above sea level)

2.- The highlands are part of the provinces already mentioned along with the provinces of CAJAMARCA, HUANUCO, PASCO, JUNIN, HUANCAVELICA, AYACUCHO, APURIMAC, CUZCO & PUNO.

3.- The AMAZON. The rest of the provinces belong to the Amazon Jungle: AMAZONAS, LORETO, SAN MARTIN, UCAYALI & MADRE DE DIOS

Every Province has a tourist atraction and many cities to go

TUMBES: Great beaches & fishing. Cities Tumbes & Puerto Pizarro

PIURA: Great beaches, Surfing & fishing. It's capital Piura is an oasis in the middle of a great desert, MANCORA, CABO BLANCO.

I could keep going on and on but that would be spoilling your exploring experience!

I'll just give you a pointer  for places of tourism attraction in order of inportance: CUZCO, AREQUIPA, LIMA, LA LIBERTAD, ANCASH, PUNO, ICA, LAMBAYEQUE, CAJAMARCA, LORETO, MADRE DE DIOS, PIURA, AMAZONAS & AYACUCHO

Machu Picchu ruins

   The only hotel in Machu Picchu is the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge. It is considered as extraordinarily expensive; you pay a hefty premium for merely "very nice" rooms, because of the location, location, and location. Rooms do not have views of the ruins themselves.

Visas

Tourists from North America, receive a visa upon arrival for up to 90 days.

When entering the country, you need to pass the immigration office (inmigration). There you get a stamp in your passport that states the number of days you are allowed to stay (usually 90 days). You can get an extension at immigration offices in any major city for 20US$ per month plus 26 soles administration fee. Make sure to take your time, don't expect things to be ready within less than an hour or even a day. The maximum extension allows you to stay for up to 180 days in total.
