Question about NCAA Division III

I'm gonna be a freshman in college this fall. The college i'm going to be attending has a Division III basketball team, and I just wanted to know how can I make the team. Is it true that they have open try-outs, or anything like that. If anyone knows this, can you please let me know, thank you very much

Division III is as wide open as can be.  

Teams range from having highly recruited players opting for a better education with a D III school, to extremely weak teams whose players were fairly weak in high school.  

All D III teams will have open tryouts -- however, it would have helped significantly if your coach recruited you.  If not, you'll have to prove yourself over potentially several recruited players.  

As soon as you arrive on campus, speak with the head basketball coach, there are NCAA forms that need filling out very soon after you begin class.
