Question about Pitt?

I am currently a first-year Premedical student at Mercyhurst college. I have a contract major to try to concentrate my education into a human biology / neuroscience area.

After 2 terms (we have a trimester system, and i start my third term this year in 3 weeks) I am not really sure that I am in the right school. Don't get me wrong, I like Mercyhurst, but I just do not feel that they are concerned with academics as much as I am. I want to go to Pitt for med school for personal reasons, I am a 32 year old adult with a son in Pittsburgh.

While talking to one of my advisers, I was told that they have had only one student able to get into Pitt's medical program in the past. This really got me thinking about the education that I was receiving.

In short, does the University of Pittsburgh have a more aggressive education; and, what are the chances of getting into their medical program if you are already a student there? I would assume that the odds are much higher, but if anyone has personal experience.....

GPA - 4.0

age - 32

Pittsburgh is a great school, ranked 13 among med schools. I actually have an interview there in October. It doesn't matter where you go to undergrad, its all about your own personal quality. Get a MCAT score above 35, Have a 4.0 GPA, do research, work or volunteer at medical institutions, join some clubs, get great letters of recommendation. If Mercyhurst is a community college, get into a full accredited university. Med schools look down at community college credit. Try and find out who the person who got into pitt was, and ask for their advice.
