Question:

Question about a Canon 35mm?

I have just recently acquired a Canon EOS Rebel A2E (released in 1992 or 1993). I was fiddling with the controls and have accidentally switched it (I think) into calibration mode? (The CAL or CF option). Now it won't let me turn the camera off or switch into another mode - the dial moves, but nothing happens.

Any ideas?

  1. Here's a site that has the manual... it might be helpful to you.

Another thing you could do is remove the batteries and turn the dial back to some other mode and reinsert the batteries.  You'll probably want to calibrate the camera to your eye anyways, so try stepping through the calibration procedure and see if the camera returns to normal when you are done.  If you are in custom function mode, the manual will help you figure out the settings.

The strange thing is, neither of those modes should lock the camera so that it doesn't return to normal when you move the dial.

  2. That's for Custom Functions.  You can customize some of the functionality of the camera indefinitely.

The other answerer posted the manual.  It's in the 2nd section on what to do with this.
