I am working on my Associates degree in Criminal Justice. I was wondering what the qualifications are for "Law Enforcement and Security Officer, Shore Activity" in the U.S Navy. I am 17 years old(Will be 18 this October).

I have heard that this job has a sea and shore rotation. But that it is mostly shore duty, is this true? it does not matter to me either way. I just want to check that to be sure as well.

  1. MAs also have sea rotations as well as a LOT of OCONUS duty.  HOWEVER Most MAs will need see sea duty until their second or third enlistment as most ships have only ONE on board and they must be E5s and up before they can do the job( exceptions are the big guys like Carriers and Gators)

to get MA you need the qualify via your line scores on the ASVAB and meet the physical requirements.  your  college credits will gain you advanced paygrade( up to E3) but will not help in securing a slot ion MA.

which is full, by the way and you could be waiting a long time to ship, if you even snag a slot at all.

  2. I am not sure about the Navy.  But you might also look into the Coast Guard.  They are the experts in law enforcement and security.  Probably a little more difficult to get into OCS because of the size of the Guard vs. Navy.  The Coast Guard typically has a little bit of a waiting list.

  3. 1800USA-Navy.  Not that hard.  Give them the info that they ask for, and they will put you in contact with a recruiter either right away or send your local recruiter your contact information.  When your talking to the recruiter, let them know about your desires.  Ask to talk to an Officer recruiter in the district to get more information.
