Question about a sling?

Is 4 months old too old to start using a sling? I am so tired of lugging my stroller around everywhere. If it's not too old what brand sling do you recommend?

  1. No. We bought a sling for our 3 month old and they work great. It's soo much easier than a stroller. My husband wears it most of the time. The one that we have it is from Babies r us.

we love it. It's great around the house as well.

  2. No, it's not too old.

Just a tip.... a lot of slings can be tricky and it may take a while to get used to using it (at least this was the case for me).  I would try it before you buy so that you can find the one that works best for you.

  3. You can wear a baby in a sling from birth to toddlerhood -- it's the positioning that is important.

You can have him lay down in it if he has poor head and neck control, but if he has a strong neck control, he can be upright.

Normal ring slings are great, and reasonably priced, there is no reason to get anything fancy or brand name when there are many WAHM's who sell great slings for cheap online.

  4. well i had one of the stupid baby carriers that clip on to your front and my baby hated as a new born, my husband chose it were as i wanted to get a fabric one! now hes 7 months old and we have justed started using he loves it... but guess what hes to big for it so now im going to buy a fabric one like i wanted in the begin! if you already have a baby you can try it out int he store a much better idea lol!

you live and learn! you could always try second hand too they are expensive!

  5. my baby is 2 weeks and i use one all the time!  I just bought a long strip of fabric and made my own (no sew).  You can look up peppermint wrap on you tube and it gives you the instructions on how to fold the fabric and carry the baby.

  6. no way! i still carry my 3 year old around in my mya wrap when she's sick and she loves it!!! you can place the child on your back instead of your front, so it's like giving them a piggy back ride with little to no discomfort for you! and kids love it!!!

  7. I don't have a sling (yet, lol!), but I do babywear with a Moby and a Babyhawk Mei Tai.  My daughter is 22 months and still worn a few times a week!  :)  It's not too late at all!

I hear great things about the Maya Ring sling and hotslings too.  Good luck!

  8. Not too old at all! I carried my 1st daughter till she was over 1! I used a baby bjorn at first....now I use a chinese traditional one (with my 5 month old)...I cvannot remember what it is called...you can get great ones on Ebay...

  9. my baby is 6 months and I have 2 slings ( a fleece peanut shell and a cotton stretch hotsling)  I also have a wrap that I made myself.  All you need is 5 yards of fabric and sewing machine to hem it.

Check out thebabywearer.com....it is a great website.

  10. 4 months is definitely not too old.  I got mine from this website.  It is a fabric one.  You can pick the material you want.  It also helps you decide which sling would be the best for you.  Good luck.

  11. oh my goodness, no. My daughter was 9 months old when I got her sling. I bought her's at a baby expo, but here's their website: http://biddleybunsslings.com/  they are really good quality and you can use it til your child is a few years old! (at that age it holds them on your back in a sitting position)
